Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease. The number of DM sufferers is reported to have increased in various developing countries including Indonesia. This increase in the number of DM patients requires good service and treatment from the hospital by adjusting the formulary for drug availability for DM sufferers. The purpose of this study was to determine the pattern of prescribing medication for Diabetes Mellitus type II and to determine the suitability of prescribing Type II Diabetes Mellitus with the Formulary of Panti Waluyo Hospital, Surakarta. This research is a descriptive study and data collection was done retrospectively. Data collection was carried out during the period January - March 2019 by tracing the medical records of patients seeking treatment at the Outpatient Installation at Panti Waluyo Hospital, Surakarta. The pattern of prescribing type II diabetes mellitus in the Outpatient Installation of Panti Waluyo Hospital, Surakarta in the period January - March 2019, is the prescribing of single oral antidiabetic of 35.89%, a combination of 2 kinds of oral antidiabetic drugs of 55.40% and a combination of more than 2 kinds oral antidiabetic drugs 8.71%. The conformity of prescribing type 2 diabetes mellitus is in accordance with the Formulary of Panti Waluyo Hospital, Surakarta, which is 100%.
