Abstract

Surgical wound infection is a part of nosocomial infection. One of the highestcause bacterial infections of surgical wound infection is Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The aims of this reserach are to determine the presence of Pseudomonas aeruginosain pus sample of surgical wound infections in Dr.Moewardi General Hospital and to know sensitivity pattern toward antibiotics. The type of this research is observational analytic research with cross sectional approach. Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria that was isolated from pus samples on Pseudomonas Selective Agar media then was performed Gram staining and biochemical test, then was tested sensitivity to antibiotic of ciprofloxacin, ceftriaxone, meropenem, cefotaxime, gentamicin, and tobramycin. the method is Kirby Bauer diffusion. The result of inhibitory zone diameter on the sensitivity test were compared with the standard inhibitory zone diameter according to Clinical Laboratory Standard Institute. The results show that from 45 pus samples of surgical wound infection in Dr. Moewardi General Hospital identified 11 positive samples of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Sensitivity test results show that Pseudomonas aeruginosa is 100% sensitive to meropenem. Sensitivity test results show sensitive 90,90% at ciprofloxacin, tobramycin and gentamycin. Sensitivity test results show sensitive 63,63% at seftriakson and sensitivity test result show sensitive 9,09% at cefotaxime.
