Abstract
Hyperglycemia is a condition with high blood sugar (≥126 mg/dL) which complicate wound healing. Wuluh starfruit leaf (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) is consist of flavonoid, saponin and tanin that can accelerate wound healing process. The purpose of this research is to know the ethanol extract of wuluh starfruit leaf as a wound healer in hyperglycemic conditions. The test used 5 hyperglycemia induced rabbits alloxan as test animals and 5 wound sites were made on the rabbits back, making wound using lanset. At 5 wound sites smeared with wuluh starfruit leaf ethanol extract emulgel with a concentration of 7,5%, 10%, 12,5%, negative control, and positive control for 14 days. Emulgel physical properties were tested by organoleptic, pH, viscosity, adhesion, dispersion, and cycling test. The percentage of wound healing results were statistically analyzed using one way ANOVA. Results of this study indicate that all concentrations of emulgel formula in ethanol extracts wuluh starfruit leaf have effect as a wound healer for DM. Emulgel formula with concentration of 10% shows effective results in wound healing DM is almost equivalent to positive control that is equal to 99%.
