Abstract
Staphylococcus aureus bacteria ATCC 25923 is Gram positive bacteria and Escherichia coli bacteria ATCC 25922 is Gram negative bacteria. Robusta coffee plant (Coffea canephora Peirre ex Froehner) contains compounds such as alkaloids, flavonoids, polyphenols, saponins, and terpenoids which have antibacterial activity. The purpose of this study was to determine the inhibitory power of extracts and fractions from leaves, seeds, and flesh of Robusta coffee plants on the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria ATCC 25923 and Escherichia coli bacteria ATCC 25922 and to determine the most effective active fraction. This research uses a combination of studies in experimental laboratories with literature studies in various journals. The method used to review journals is Systematic Literature Review (SLR). Testing the antibacterial activity in the literature using disk diffusion and welling methods The antibacterial activity test of Robusta coffee leaves (Coffea canephora Peirre ex Froehner) showed extracts and all three fractions had antibacterial activity. Ethyl acetate fraction from coffee leaves had the most significant activity on Staphylococcus aureus bacteria ATCC 25923 and Escherichia coli bacteria ATCC 25922. While the most active fraction of coffee beans that can inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria ATCC 25923 and Escherichia coli bacteria ATCC 25922 are the methanol fraction.
