Abstract

Sepsis is a major health problem in the world that affects millions of people every year and causes death in 1 in 4 people. Sepsis is still a world health problem because of its difficult treatment so that the death rate is quite high. Antibiotics are one of the therapies that are proven to reduce mortality in sepsis given immediately after sepsis is diagnosed. The purpose of this study was to describe the use of antibiotics in septic patients and to evaluate the use of antibiotics using the Gyssens method in the Hospital's Inpatient Installation. This research is a non-experimental research. Research is retrospective. The method used is a literature review method in the last 10 years to find data on the use of antibiotics in septic patients with the Gyssens method in the hospital. Data obtained from the Google Scholar database with the keywords antibiotic use, sepsis, Gyssens. The literature review results obtained 9 journals that match the inclusion and exclusion criteria, including: published in 2015-2019 and full text. In the journal, it is known that most sepsis patients occur in men with the age category> 46 years at 59% and the most length of stay in the hospital <7 days is 85%. The type of antibiotic that was most widely used for sepsis patients was ceftriaxone as much as 27%. The use of antibiotics in sepsis patients with the Gyssens method in the inpatient hospital category 0 was 48%, category I was 0.2%, category IIA was 9.5%, category IIB was 3%, category IIC was 0.6%, category IIIA as much as 4.5%, category IIIB as much as 2.8%, category IVA as much as 28.2%, category IVB as much as 0.4%, and category IVD as much as 2.8%. ______ Keyword: Literature review, Sepsis, Antibiotic, Gyssens.
