Abstract
The yellow root plant is one of the plants used as a traditional medicine for antihyperlipidemia and anti-microbial. This study aims to determine the subcronic toxicity of toxic symptoms and clinical symptoms, changes in AST and ALT levels, as well as histopathologic picture of rat liver organ. The yellow root extract was obtained by maceration process. This study used 25 male rats and 25 female rats, divided into 5 groups and each group consisted of 5 male rats and 5 female rats. Group I was given CMC Na 0.5% as a negative control, the II-V group was given Dayak yellow root methanol extract with variation dose 300, 600 and 900 mg / KgBB. The study lasted 28 days and added 14 days in the satellite group to see a reversible effect. Examination of AST and ALT levels is performed before and after administration of the extract. At the end of the examination the test animals were sacrificed for histopathological tests. The results of this study indicate that giving yellow root methanol extract does not cause toxic symptoms and clinical symptoms, does not cause biochemical changes but affects the histopathologic changes of the liver. Keywords : yellow root ( Arcangelisia Flava (L) Merr.), Subchronic toxicity, histopathology.
