Abstract
Pneumonia is a lower respiratory tract infection that often occurs in children. Antibiotics are the main therapy in the treatment of pneumonia. This study aims to determine patient characteristics and rationality of antibiotic use in pediatric pneumonia patients in the Grobogan District Hospital inpatient installation in 2019 based on the right indication, the right patient, the right drug, and the right dose. This type of non-eksperimental descriptive research with cross-sectional method.Collection data with retrospective. The sample in this study were pediatric pneumonia patients listed in the medical record using antibiotic therapy at the Grobogan District Hospital Inpatient Installation in 2019 which was adjusted to the inclusion criteria. This study was conducted on 111 pediatric pneumonia patients who met the inclusion criteria. The results showed that the characteristics of the patients in this study were mostly male, aged 0-5 years and had good nutritional status. Use of antibiotics in the treatment of pneumonia in children in the Inpatient Installation of the Grobogan District Hospital in 2019 was in accordance with the Hospital Formulary, IDAI Guidelines, Guidline Dipiro Edition 9, Hospital Care for Children. The rationality of antibiotics was based on the right indication (100%), the right patient (100%), the right drug (100%), and the right dose (74,8%).
