Abstract
Staphylococcus sp. and Propionibacterium acne is a bacterial inflammation trigger in acne. African plants (Vernonia amygdalina) has been widely researched as an antibacterial with its antibacterial compounds alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, steroids, and triterpenoids. The purpose of this research is to know ethanolic extract antibacterial activity African plant (Vernonia amygdalina) against bacteria Staphylococcus sp and Propionibacterium acne. This research is a library research/literature, by reviewing various sources to answer the formulation of the problem and the objectives of the proposed study. The data source in this research is a journal which is then analyzed in response to the formulated study objectives. The analysis was carried out in three stages, namely data reduction, data classification and data display. The study results showed that the ethanol extract African plant (Vernonia amygdalina) has antibacterial activity against bacteria Staphylococcus sp. and Propionibacterium acne. Concentration of 25 mg/ml plant ethanol extract Africa (Vernonia amygdalina) has shown to be effective as an antibacterial against bacterial growth Staphylococcus sp .and a concentration of 25 mg/ml of plant ethanol extract Africa (Vernonia amygdalina) effective as an antibacterial against the growth of Propionibacterium acne bacteria. Plant African (Vernonia amygdalina) chemical among them flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, terpenoids, tannins, glycosides, indole alkaloids, anthraquinones and luteolin. Keywords: African plants, Staphylococcus sp., Propionibacterium acne.
