Abstract

Infection is a type of disease caused by pathogenic bacteria that enter the body, multiply and cause disease. This disease is usually found in tropical areas such as Indonesia. The use of traditional medicine is generally considered safer than modern medicine. Gude plants or pigeons pea (Cajanus cajan L Mill sp) contain alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins and saponins. This study aims to provide information regarding the antibacterial activity of the gude plant (Cajanus cajan L Mill sp). This research begins with a review of articles with online literature obtained from national publication journals and international journals obtained from journal providers on the internet published from Google Scholar and Science Direct. Then analyzed by reducing / summarizing the main things, the methods used and removing those that are not important, then the results of the data obtained are made into a compiled collection of information. The results of the literature review show that the gude plant (Cajanus cajan L Mill sp) has antibacterial activity, both on gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria which can be seen from the large number of Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) with the content of the active compound cajanol which has antibacterial properties in plants.
