Abstract
Inflammation is one of the body’s main immune responses to infection and irritation. The use of traditional medicine is generally considered safer than modern medicine, there are several plants that are used by the public to treat inflammation, such as celery, carrots and gotu kola which have flavonoids which are found as an anti-inflammatory. Flavonoids have anti-inflammatory activity that can regulate arachidonic acid metabolism by inhibiting cyclooxygenase and lipooxygenase activities. This study aims to determine the anti-inflammatory activty and the mechanism of active compounds of celery (Apium graveolens L), carrots (Daucus carota L), and gotu kola (Centella asiatica (L) Urban). Literature reviews are obtained from national and international published journals from journal providers on the internet published, such as google scholar, researchgate, and pudmed. The literature obtained was analyzed by summarizing the points releted to inflammation andthe compounds in these plants that have the potential as an anti-inflammatory. The results of the data obtained are used as a collection of information. Based on the results of a literature review, it can be concluded that celery (Apium graveolends L), carrots (Daucus carota L), and gotu kola (Centella asiatica (L) Urban) have inflammatory activity againts variosus test animals. Celery (Apium graveolends L), carrots (Daucus carota L), and gotu kola (Centella asiatica (L) Urban) have flavonoid compounds that have the potential regulate arachidonic acid metabolism by inhibiting cyclooxygenase and lipooxygenase activities. Keywords : literature review, celery plant, carrots plant, gotu kola plant, anti-inflammatory activity.
