Abstract

Diabetes is a serious chronic disease caused by the inability of the pancreas to produce insulin or when the body cannot effectively use the produced insulin. The varying use of drug therapy results in differences in costs and outcomes of the therapy. This research aims to analyze the cost effectiveness of insulin and oral antidiabetic combination therapy on outpatients of type II Diabetes Mellitus at RSUD Kabupaten Karanganyar in 2019. This research is non-experimental with a retrospective descriptive research design and was conducted at RSUD Kabupaten Karanganyar from December 2020 to January 2021. The sample in this research was obtained using purposive sampling method with 137 patients who met the inclusion criteria. The cost effectiveness was analyzed by calculating the medical costs directly from the hospital’s point of view followed by calculating the ACER and ICER values. The result shows that the most cost-effective insulin-oral antidiabetic combination therapy based on the ACER value is the ®Lantus Solostar-Metformin therapy group with an ACER value of Rp878,070.00 per effectiveness. The sensitivity analysis in this research shows that the therapy costs are the most influential costs to the cost effectiveness. Key word: CEA, Diabetes Melitus, Insulin, Oral Antidiabetic
