Abstract

Naringenin is a flavonoid compound that has anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antiantherogenic, antifibrogenic, and antioxidant activities. Flavonoids also act as antioxidants to ward off free radicals found in the free air, which causes premature aging, wrinkled skin, dullness, and so on. This study aims to determine the influence of stearic acid variation and alcohol setil on the physical quality and activity of naringenin lotion preparations seen from its IC50 value using the DPPH method (1,1-diphenyl-2-picryhidrazyl). Physical quality test of naringenin lotion formula made into 3 formulas with a concentration of 0.4 in 100 grams is carried out with organoleptic parameters, homogeneity, emulsion type, scatter power, adhesion, pH, and viscosity. To test the stability of naringenin lotion with a combination of stearic acid and alcohol, it is done by looking at the parameters of scatter power, adhesion, pH, and viscosity, which are seen every week. Determination of IC50 value for antioxidant test using DPPH method (1,1-diphenyl-2-picryhidrazyl) using UV-Vis spectrophotometer. Physical and antioxidant quality test results are statistically analyzed using One Way ANOVA. Naringenin lotions with a combination of stearic acid and alcohol can make a significant difference to physical quality tests after stability that include organoleptic testing, pH, viscosity, dissorientation, and adhesion. For homogeneity test and emulsion type produces good results in each formula. The best formula when viewed from physical quality test and IC50 value, namely formula 3 with a combination of stearic acid and alcohol setil (4.2 : 5.8) and got IC50 value of 52.74 ppm, including strong category and IC50 value for pure naringenin isolate of 20.83 ppm, including very strong category.
