Abstract

Endofit bactery can be used as non chemical alternative to replace antibiotic. Endofit bactery is gotten by isolating a plant which surface had been sterilized to get a bactery living in the plant’s net. Lime leaf (Cytrus hystrix DC) is used as antibacterial. The purpose of this research is to identify and test the activity of endofit bactery from Lime leaf (Cytrus hystrix DC) toward Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923. There are methods used in this research such as strerilizing, isolating, fermenting, antibacterial activity testing, and identifying the endofit bactery. Antibacterial testing is done by diffusional method or using disc paper. Identifying of Endofit bactery is done based on macroscopic testing of the morphology, microscopic, and biochemical testing to gain the genus from isolated endofit bactery which has the activity as an antibacterial toward Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923. Based on the testing, isolated endofit bactery from Lime leaf (Cytrus hystrix DC) produce several genus such as Pseudosomonas, Bacillus, Citrobacter, Klebsiella, and Lactobacillus. The result of antibacterial activity testing toward Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 shows that all of obtained genus have an activity as antibacterial. Isolated endofit bactery from lime leaf which has the biggest activity among other isolated endofit bactery is the one with bacterial code B2(2)2. It is classified to klebsiella genus which average obstacle diameter is 10,14 ± 0,67 mm, so it is categorized to strong obstacle response.
