Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disease causes abnormalities in insulin secretion. The purpose of this study was to determine the antidiabetic activity, and regeneration of pancreatic cells ethanol extract of Solo Garlic. This study used six groups of rats normal control group, diabetes group (CMC-Na 0.5%), positive group (Glibenclamide), ethanol extract of solo garlic dose of 140 mg / KgBB, 350 mg / KgBB, and 700 mg / KgBB mice. Test material was asministered orally for 14 days. Parameters in this study were decreased blood glucose levels, and repair of mice pancreatic cells with Hematoxylin-Eosin staining. The results showed that solo garlic ethanol extract had the ability to decrease blood glucose levels equivalent to a positive group (Glibenclamide) and the most effective dose to increase the diameter of the endocrine cells in the pancreas of mice which induced by alloxan is 700 mg/kg.
