Abstract
Teak leaves (Tectona grandis L.) contain anthocyanin compounds as natural dyes and antioxidants. Stearic acid and triethanolamine are used as stable emulsifiers. Teak leaf extract formulated into a cream preparation that has antioxidant activity to determine the effect of stearic acid and triethanolamine concentrations. Teak leaves were extracted and formulated into cream preparations with variations of stearic acid and triethanolamine (10:6,67; 13,33:5; 16,67:3,33), physical quality and stability tests were carried out. The best formula from the results of physical quality and stability tests was tested for safety and preference using the patch test method. The cream formula was tested for antioxidant activity using the DPPH method. The results showed that sodium stearate and triethanolamine had an effect on cream preparations. Formula 2 is the best preparation that produces cream with semi-solid form, red color, jasmine aroma, pH value of 5,6. Viscosity 226,7 dPas, dispersion 5,70 – 6,13 cm, adhesion 15,0 seconds, IC50 101.582 ppm, met the irritation test parameters and a relatively high preference value.
