Abstract
Hyperglycemia is a condition of high blood sugar levels that generally occurs in people with diabetes mellitus and who have impaired pancreatic function. Giving herbal medicine butterfly pea (Clitoria ternatea L.) can reduce blood sugar levels and repair pancreatic cells because it contains flavonoid compounds, alkaloids, terpenoids, tannins, saponins, and anthocyanins. blood sugar and histopathological features of alloxan-induced pancreas. This study used the maceration extraction method with 70% ethanol, measuring blood glucose levels with a glucometer and histopathological examination with Hematoxylin eosin staining. The test animals in the form of 30 mice were divided into 6 groups, namely normal control, negative control, positive control of sitagliptin 0.26 mg/kg BB, and ethanol extract of telang flower with dose variations of 2.7 mg/KgBB, 5.4 mg/KgBB. and 10.8 mg/KgBB. Data analysis used statistical analysis Two Way ANOVA for measuring blood glucose levels and Kruskal-Wallis for pancreatic histopathological tests. This study showed that the ethanol extract of telang flower had an effect on lowering blood sugar and improving the diameter of pancreatic cells at a dose of 5.4 mg/KgBB which was comparable to sitagliptin as a positive control. Keywords : Butterfly pea (Clitoria ternatea L.), antihyperglycemic, aloksan, Pancreatic histopathology
