Abstract
Inflammation is a normal protective reaction of a tissue injury. Bay leaves and kencur rhizome is herbal plants that have anti-inflammatory properties. This study aims to determine the combined dose has activity and is more effective than a single dose. This study used the maceration method and the edema method on the soles of the feet induced by carrageenan 1% carried out on 7 groups of rats, namely negative control, positive control, ethanol extract of bay leaf, ethanol extract of kencur rhizome, the combination of ethanolic extract of bay leaf (25%): kencur rhizome (75%), the combination of bay leaf ethanol extract (75%): kencur rhizome (25%), and combination of bay leaf ethanol extract (50%): kencur rhizome (50%) volume of edema was measured at T0, T0.5, T1 up to T5. The combination of bay leaf ethanol extract and kencur rhizome with a single preparation has an equally effective anti-inflammatory effect. combination of bay leaf and rhizome kencur in all combination groups namely 25% : 75%, 75% : 25%, and 50% : 50% equally effective as anti-inflammatory and comparable to positive control.
