Abstract
Moringa seeds contain phenolics, flavonoids, saponins, terpenoids, proanthocyanidins, beta-carotene, and antioxidants. Nanosuspensions are nanometer-sized drug crystals that are dispersed and stabilized in a surfactant stabilizer solution. This study aims to determine the antioxidant activity of Moringa seed extract compared to Moringa seed extract nanosuspension and the best stability of the nanosuspension formulation. Moringa seed extract was obtained from the extraction of 70% ethanol sohxletation. Nanosuspension was made 3 formulas with the precipitation method each formula containing 100 mg extract with Poloxamer 188 1%, Poloxamer 407 1%, SLS 0.5%: Poloxamer 188 0.5%, SLS 0.5%: Poloxamer 127, SLS 0 ,5%:Tween 0.5%, and Tween 1%. The characterization of nanosuspension included particle size, polydispersity index, and zeta potential and the stability test of the preparation obtained the best formula F1 to F3. Testing of antioxidant activity using the DPPH method by calculating the IC50 value and the data analyzed using the SPSS statistical test. The results of this study indicate that the nanosuspension of Moringa oleifera seed extract has stronger antioxidant activity with IC50 results in formula 1 of 230,035; formula 2 236,243; and formula 3 of 233,151 when compared with the pure extract with IC50 results of 251,918.
