Abstract

Feminine hygiene wash is widely available in market. It contains bethel leaves which offer many benefits. Women are sensitive, particularly their genital area. Women are prone to vaginal candidiasis which is attributable to Candida albicans fungi. This study aims at investigating the influence of feminine hygiene wash on the growth of Candida albicans. This study was carried out with diffusion method using shafts. Samples used were feminine hygiene wash from various brands (A, B, C, D, and E) and lactacyd as positive control. The research results indicate that feminine hygiene wash from brands A, C, D, and E do not influence the growth of Candida albicans. Sample B might be sensitive on Candida albicans growth with 75 mm diameter, similar to the positive control. . Keywords: feminine hygiene wash, bethel leaf, Candida albicans, diffusion method
