Abstract

Kembang sepatu gantung flowers are used as an alternative to antipyretics. The ethanol extract of kembang sepatu gantung flower in previous studies was the most effective dose as an antipyretic at 50 mg/kg BW of concentration. This study aimed to determine the antipyretic activity of ethanol extract and n-hexane fraction of kembang sepatu gantung flowers against peptone-induced male white rats and their effective dose. Antipyretic testing was carried out on 30 white rats divided into 6 group, namely fever control (CMC-Na), antipyretic control (Paracetamol 45 mg/kg BW), ethanol extract, n-hexane fraction I, n- Hexane fraction II, and n-Hexane fraction III. All groups were induced with peptone and then rectal temperature was measured before being induced by peptone, after an hour, temperature was measured from 30 to 180 minutes after treatment. The results of the study is ethanol extract (50 mg/kg BW rats), n-Hexan fraction at dose I (4,445 mg/kg BW), dose II (8.889 mg/kg BW rats) and dose III (13.335 mg/kg BW rats) has antipyretic activity seen from the average rectal temperature (delta T), AUC and %DAP in peptone-induced male white rats. The second dose fraction (8.8889 mg/kg BW rats) is the effective dose as an antipyretic. Keywords: Antipyretic, fraction, kembang sepatu gantung flower
