Abstract
Snail slime contains achasin isolate as an antibacterial and heparin sulfate which affects the increase in fibroblasts as an extracellular matrix that will accelerate wound healing. This study aims to determine snail slime which is formulated into a gel preparation with good physical properties and stability, the effect of variations in carbopol concentrations and its effectiveness in accelerating the healing of wound. Snail slime was centrifuged for separation from its feces and formulated into gel preparations with variations in carbopol concentrastions of 1%, 1.5%, and 2%, then tested the physical quality and stability of the preparation using the Cycling test method. The gel formula was tested for wound healing activity on the back of New Zealand rabbits. The results showed that the snail slime gel preparation had good physical properties and stability during storage. The increase in the concentration of carbopol causes the viscocity and adhesion to increase, while the pH and dispersion decreased. Carbopol also affects the activity of wound healing. The most effective formula in the wound healing process is Formula 1 with 1% carbopol concentration. Key word : snail slime (Achatina fulica), incision wound (Vulnus scissum), gel
