Abstract
Antipyretics are drugs that can reduce fever. Kemangi (Ocimum sanctum L) and kenikir (Cosmos caudatus Kunth) have a secondary metabolite can be used as antipyretic. The combination of medicinal plants that have an antipyretic activity can increase efficacy and several compounds from different plants can work dynamically to lower body temperature. The object of research was to find out antipyretic activity of combination extract of kemangi leaves and kenikir based on variation doses to obtain an effective dose. This research used 25 rats divided into 5 groups. Negative control (CMC Na 1%), positive control (Paracetamol 45 mg/kg BW). Rats in groups III-V given a combined kemangi leaf extract : kenikir with ratio ⁄ : ⁄ , ⁄ : ⁄ and ⁄ : ⁄ . Fever in rats induced by peptone 5% 1 ml subcutaneously. Rectal temperature was measured before induction (initial temperature), 1 hours after induction, and every 30 minutes after administration of test preparation. The data were analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk test, ANOVA, post hoc test. The results showed combination extract of kemangi leaves and kenikir had an antipyretic effect with the parameter decreasing rectal temperature of rats. The effective dose of the combination extract kemangi leaves : kenikir as an antipyretic is 150 mg : 210 mg/kg BW ( ⁄ : ⁄ ). Keywords: Antipyretic, combination, kemangi leaves, kenikir leaves, peptone 5%
