Abstract

Papaya leaves are medicinal plants that contain flavonoid compounds, saponins, tannins, and alkaloids as a healing of burns. Gel preparations are made on a Na-CMC basis and supplemented by variations in the concentration of papaya leaf extract. The purpose of the study is to find out the physical fitness of the gel and the length of the process of healing burns on the giving of the gel. The study used the New Zealand White rabbit. Divided into 5 groups namely positive control (bioskin), negative control, papaya leaf extract gel formula with 5% concentration, 10%, 15%. The percentage of burns was analyzed using the SPSS 21 application with the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test to see normality, the Levene test to see homogeneity. If the distributed data is normal and homogeneous it can be continued with ANOVA analysis. The results of papaya leaf extract gel with gelling agent concentration Na-CMC affect physical properties. The increase in the concentration of gelling agents leads to an increase in viscosity, adle power and a decrease in scatter power. The best gel preparation for burns healing is formula III because it is comparable to positive control, so it can provide a faster burn healing effect Keywords: ethanol extract, papaya leaves, gel, burns, rabbit
