Abstract

Calcium is one of the causes of water hardness. Artificially Water hardness is a deliberate solution made by dissolving a salt containing calcium. Zeolite is one of the minerals it has the ability as a cation exchange. This research aims to knowing decreased levels Ca2+ the most optimum of various immersion time and zeolite concentration in artificially water hardess. This research is an experimental research. Artificially water hardness made levels Ca2+ of 600 ppm, so it exceeds the limit specified by PERMENKES Number: 492/Menkes/Per/IV/ 2010 about the maximum limit of hardness allowed is 500 ppm as CaCO3 or 200 ppm as Ca2+. While the zeolite used is a fine zeolite of various concentration (5,10,15)% and variation of immersion time (10, 20, 30). The determination of levels Ca2+ done by complexometri. The result research showed level Ca2+ on artificial water hardness without treatment of 589,20 ppm Ca2+, decrease with immersion 10 minutes of (5,10,15)% zeolit consecutive is (8,42; 15,83; 25,93)%, with immersion 20 minutes of (5,10,15)% zeolit consecutive is (18,18; 35,35; 40,40)%, and on immersion 30 minutes of (5,10,15)% zeolit consecutive is (41,74; 55,56; 73,40). Decrease levels Ca2+ the most optimum in the samples given zeolite concentration 15% with immersion time 30 minutes of 156,72 ppm Ca2+ obtained a decrease of 73,40%. ────────────────────────────────────────────────── Keywords : Ca2+, artificially water hardness, zeolite, concentration, immersion time
