Abstract

The use of natural ingredients to suppress fewer side effects than synthetic drugs in people with diabetes mellitus, one of which is mango plants, the peel of the fruit contains the active compound mangiferin, flavonoids, phenolic acid, dietary fiber carotenoids, and several other active enzymes. The purpose of the study was to determine whether the peel of mango arumanis could reduce blood glucose levels and the effective dose for reducing blood glucose levels. This research uses maceration method extraction method with 70% ethanol. Examination for measuring blood glucose levels using a glucometer and Gluco strip DR. The test animals used were 30 animals divided into 6 treatment groups, namely normal control, negative, positive, mango peel extract with varying doses of 4.2mg/20g BW, 8.4mg/20g BW and 16.8mg/20g BW. Data analysis used One Way ANOVA statistical test. The results showed that mango arumanis peel extract could lower blood glucose levels. The effective dose was 16.8mg/20gBW, the dose did not show a significant difference with the positive control (glibenclamide).
