Abstract

Literature review related to plants of the genus Syzygium used as antihyperuricemia. This study aims to determine the literature review of chemical compounds contained in plants of the genus Syzygium on antihyperuricemic activity, to determine the literature review of extraction methods on plants of the genus Syzygium, to determine the literature review of the induction method of plants of the genus Syzygium in antihyperuricemic activity, and to determine the mechanism of action in plants genus Syzygium which has antihyperuricemic activity. The literature review was carried out using a review of research journals that had been published through Google Scholar between 2010-2020 using journals that would be selected according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The inclusion criteria in this study were journals showing the antihyperuricemic activity of plants of the Syzygium genus. The exclusion criteria in this study were that the journal did not discuss antihyperuricemic activity in plants of the Syzygium genus, the journal was not up to date. The results of a literature review from 16 research journals show that flavonoid chemical compounds contained in plants of the Syzygium genus are able to provide an effect on reducing uric acid levels, soxhletation and maceration extraction methods can be used for antihyperuricemic activity, the induction method used is potassium oxonate, potassium oxonate, and offal such as chicken liver, chicken intestine, and beef liver which can provide hyperuricemic activity, and flavonoid compounds contained in plants of the genus Syzygium which have a mechanism of f lavonoid is inhibit of xanthine enzymes so the formation of uric acid can be stopped. Keywords: Syzygium, Syzygium polyanthum, antihyperuricemia, flavonoid.
