Abstract
Sepsis is a life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by immune dysregulation against infection. Antibiotics are compounds produced by bacterial and fungal microorganisms that have the effect of inhibiting or stopping biochemical processes in other microorganisms. The purpose of the study was to understand the quantity, quality and as a reference for determining the supervision of the use of antibiotics in a hospital in a structured, quality, and quality manner in the literature review. The research method uses a literature review with a literature search. There were 17 literatures that met the inclusion criteria consisting of international and national journals. There were 994 patients including 456 male patients, 329 female patients and 209 patients without information. The results showed that there were many uses of various antibiotics in patients with sepsis, antibiotic therapy has been effectively used alone or in combination. The data from the literature review of the single antibiotic most used was meropenem with 428 while the most used combination antibiotic was ampicillin, sulbactam–gentamicin, amounting to 924. The use of antibiotics using the Gyssens line analysis method showed in category 0 7.94%; category I 53.32%; category IIA 3.08% ; category IIB 1.65%; category IIC 0.95%; category IIIA 3.38%; category IIIB 3.20%; category IVA 8.15%; category IVB 2,94%; IVC category 2,94% ; IVD category 3.36%; category V 6.98%; category VI 3.03%. Key words: literature review, antibiotics, sepsis, gyssens method
