Abstract

Breast cancer is a disease that is triggered by the uncontrolled development of cells (abnormal) in breast tissue originating from both the ductal epithelium (ductal cancer) and lobules (lobular cancer). The cause of breast cancer generally occurs due to damage to the DNA that causes genetic mutations. Soursop plants contain compounds such as alkaloids, tannins, and several other chemical substances including acetogenin which is the main compound that has cytotoxic activity. This study aims to determine the cytotoxic activity of Annona muricara L. against the T47D breast cancer cell culture and to determine its effect on the expression of P53 and BAX proteins. This study was conducted using a literature review method to determine the cytotoxic activity of Annona muricata L. and its effect on P53 and BAX protein expression in T47D breast cancer cell culture. The literature review was carried out by the process of searching for information through the Google Scholar database, Science Direct, and NCBI (National Center for Biotechnology Information). The information obtained is then analyzed and interpreted in such a way that it can be used to solve existing problems. The results of the cytotoxic activity study showed that Annona muricata L. had cytotoxic activity in the T47D cancer cell culture with the IC50 value parameter. Soursop leaves have an IC50 value of 1.52 μg / mL, soursop seeds have an IC50 value of 31.38 μg / mL, and for soursop fruit has an IC50 value of 329.19 μg / mL (Ika and Ety, 2014). The results of the study on the effect of protein expression on cancer cells show that acetogenin in soursop (Annona muricata L.) increases several protein expressions such as P53 and BAX by activating, stabilizing and accumulating dimitochondrial bax (intrinsic pathway) which functions as a proapotosic agent so that the cell cycle will stop. in the G1 phase and causing apoptosis can occur.
