Abstract

Compliance denotes a discipline or adherence to target that has been set referring to a situation in which individual’s behavior is suitable with action suggested by laboratory technicians. Therefore, occupational knowledge, safety and health support is required to improve hand hygiene compliance in laboratory. This study aims to prove the influence of occupational knowledge, safety and health on hand hygiene compliance of laboratory technicians. This study was conducted on the laboratory technicians in Regional Public Hospital (RSUD) of Dr. Moewardi in Surakarta. The research population included a total of 50 laboratory technicians in Regional Public Hospital (RSUD) of Dr. Moewardi. Samples were taken using total sampling technique. Data were analyzed with multiple regression analysis using SPSS version 18 for Windows. The research results indicate that knowledge puts positive effects on compliance to perform hand hygiene with significance value of 0.001, smaller than 0.05. Occupational safety gives positive effects on compliance to perform hand hygiene with significance level of 0.004, smaller than 0.05. Occupational health gives positive effects to hand hygiene compliance significance level of 0.002, smaller than 0.05. Regional Public Hospital (RSUD) of Dr. Moewardi in Surakarta can improve the knowledge of laboratory technicians on compliance to practice hand hygiene by considering all efforts to perform occupational safety and health in the laboratory of Regional Public Hospital (RSUD) of Dr. Moewardi in Surakarta.
