Abstract
Niacinamide is a water-soluble isotype of vitamin B3 amide and is a potential therapy for acne vulgaris. HPMC is a gelling agent that can form a clear and neutral gel and has a stable viscosity on long-term storage. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of variations in HPMC concentration on the physical quality of niacinamide hydrogel preparations. Niacinamide hydrogel formula was made with various HPMC concentrations of 2%, 3%, and 4%. The hydrogel preparations were tested for physical quality including organoleptic tests, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, adhesion, and spreadability. The results of the niacinamide hydrogel research show that the addition of HPMC as a gelling agent with varying concentrations can affect the physical quality properties of the hydrogel preparation, and good physical quality testing is obtained in formula 3 with a concentration of 4% HPMC with a stable pH value of 7. Keyword : Niacinamide, HPMC, Hidrogel.
