Abstract
Lempuyang wangi rhizome (Zingiber aromaticum Val.) is a plant widely used as a traditional medicine, one of them as analgesic. The previous study has a LD50 866,96 mg/kgBB mice (toxicity medium). This study to determine the reaction of variation dosage and effects of subchronic short toxicity on levels of Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN) and creatinine with histopathology images of kidney rats. Extract lempuyang wangi rhizome was obtained by maceration using 96% ethanol solvent. This study used 25 male rats and 25 female rats, was divided into 5 groups. The first group of negative control was given 0.5% CMC-Na solution, 3 treatment groups were given a dosage of 125 mg/kgBW, 250 mg/kgBW, 500 mg/kgBW, and the satellite group was given 500 mg/kgBW. The study lasted for 28 days and added 14 days in the satellite group. Examination of BUN and creatinine levels was performed at the beginning of treatment and the end of treatment. At the end of the examination the test animals were sacrificed for histopathological tests. The study showed that the administration of lempuyang wangi rhizome extract dose 125 mg/kgBW, 250 mg/kgBW, 500 mg/kgBW or satellite group did not give toxic effect on kidney and female kidney organ seen from BUN, creatinine, and histopathology kidney.
