Abstract

Chili leaves (Capsicum frustescens L.) is empirically widely used by the community as an acne medicine. In addition, chili pepper leaf is also used as an antioxidant. The purpose of this research is to know the toxic effect, to know the value of LD50 and clinical symptoms on ethanol extract of chili leaf. The extract obtained was tested for acute toxicity using mice as much as 35 individuals divided into 7 groups: normal control, negative control, and treated with ethanol extract of chili leaves dose 5 mg / kg, 50 mg / kg, 300 mg / kg, 2000 Mg / kg BW, and a dose of 5000 mg / kg BW administered orally only once at the beginning of the study period. Daily observations included toxic symptoms, mortality of mice, LD50, BB, organ weight and macropathology. No toxic symptoms were observed at all doses. In the statistical test, there was no significant difference between the time of the organ index and the behavior change with the giving of chili leaf extract (p> 0,05). There was a change of organ color in group of dose 2000 mg / kg BW and dose 5000 mg / kg BW. The conclusion of chili leaf extract was not toxic, the extract classified as non toxic for single administration with LD50 of 5000 mg / Kg BW and influenced clini phenomenon, macrospatology in female white mice.
