Abstract

Soursop leaf (Annona muricata L) and red dragon fruit skin (Hylocereus polyrhizus) have not been utilized by the community and only become waste, even though these two natural ingredients have antihypercholesterolemic effects where they contain abundant flavonoids and antioxidants. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the combination content to be used to reduce hypercholesterolemia levels in rats with parameters of calcium levels in blood vessels, skin elasticity and a picture of rat aortic cell damage. 25 rats were induced for a week with quail eggs 2ml/day and PTU 0.02% with a dose of 18mg/kg BW rats in 0.5% Na CMC suspension were divided into 5 groups (negative control Na CMC 0.5%, positive Simvastatin 18mg/kg BW of rats, a combination of dose ratio extract of red dragon fruit peel: soursop leaf, 200:100, 150:150 and 100:200mg/kg BW rats. Treatment for 3 weeks ago was calculated the level of skin elasticity, classification of the rat aorta, and see histopathological picture of the aorta. From the cholesterol test, it was found that there was a significant decrease in the extract combination group, especially the 150:150mg/kg BW rats, the aortic classification with calcium parameters also showed low calcium levels, and the elasticity of the percentage of skin collagen levels was also high 36.33% indicating the effect of antioxidant effects. and flavonoids that can suppress hypercholesterolemia in the body is also supported by a small amount of cell damage in the aorta.
