Abstract

Sterculia foetida L. is a traditional medicinal plant that contain saponin, flavonoid, palyphenol, tannin, alkaloid, and triterpenoid. They can be used as an antibacterial activity. Sterculia foetida L. stem bark extract was obtained through percolation method with 95% ethanol solvent. Antibacterial activity by diffusion method. Dilution of Sterculia foetida L. stem bark extract dilution was made in various concentrations using sterile aquadest. The result showed Sterculia foetida L. stem bark extract had antibacterial activity against Salmnonella typhi and Staphylococcus aureus. Salmonella typhi inhibition zone at the extract concentration 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50% are 8,00; 10,33; 12;67; 17,67; and 20,67 Staphylococcus aureus inhibition zone at the extract concentration 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%,and 50% are 11,67; 14,67; 17,00; 18,67; and 21,67. Inhibition zone of both has significant difference. Staphylococcus aureus inhibit zone is better than Salmonella typhi.
