Abstract

Dlingo leaf (Acorus calamus L.) has antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Chemical compounds contained in dlingo leaves are flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and alkaloids that have antibacterial properties. Based on compounds owned by dlingo leaf can be used as deodorant roll on. The study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of the formulation of deodorant roll on dlingo leaf ethanol extract towards the bacterium Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 35923. Extraction is done by percolation using 96% etanol. The thick dlingo leaf extract was formulated into a deodorant roll on with various extract concentrations of 1, 5, and 10%. Antibacterial test of deodorant roll on dlingo leaf extract using the well diffusion method. Deodorant roll-on was tested for stability and physical quality including organoleptic test, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, dispersibility, adhesion, irritation, and analyzed using one way ANOVA. The results of this study are deodorant roll on with extract concentrations of 1, 5, and 10% suitable with physical quality test and good stability. The deodorant roll on dlingo leaf extract concentration has antibacterial activity with Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Extract concentration 5% have antibacterial more activity Staphylococcus aureus bacteria with inhibition zone 20,67 mm.
