Abstract

The prevalence of hypertension increases with age, so elderly hypertensive patients need more attention in their treatment. The incidence of hypertension in the elderly (60 years) is still as high as 65.4%. This study was conducted to determine the percentage of drug interactions, types of drugs that cause many interactions, and mechanisms that can cause drug interactions in hypertensive patients at the Inpatient Installation of RSUD dr. Sayidiman Magetan in 2020. This study is a non-experimental descriptive study with retrospective data collection. Based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 42 hypertensive patients met the criteria. Applications and books are used to see the type of interaction based on the severity of the interaction, namely minor, moderate, and mayor. The interaction mechanism is based on the Lexicom and Drug Interaction Facts™ Facts and Comporbain applications from David S. Tatro. The results showed that from a total of 42 hypertensive patients, 40 cases (95.24%) had drug interactions and 2 cases (4.76%) did not. Minor interactions were 20 events (29.03%), moderate interactions were 60 events (61.29%) and major interactions were 1 events (9.68%). The drug most widely used to cause interactions is amlodipine with anthrax. The interaction mechanism found was pharmacodynamic interaction mechanism with 28 events (34.57%), pharmacokinetic interaction 17 events (20.99%) and the unknown interaction mechanism was 36 events (44.44%). Keywords: Drug interactions; Hypertension; RSUD dr. Sayidiman.
