Abstract

Bipolar affective disorder is an episodic mental disorder characterized by manic symptoms, hypomanic symptoms, depression, and mixed symptoms. According to 2018 Basic Health Research (RISKEDAS) data patients with bipolar disorder in which 95.460 of 706.688 population occurred in Central Java, Indonesia. Additionally, WHO recorded either prescribing error or patient drug utilization error occurred approximately 50%. The purpose of this study was to develop the prescription and medication in bipolar patients at the Inpatient Installation at Surakarta District Psychiatric Hospital January to August 2021. The research is retrospective method. The prescription sampling was done with the purposive sampling method, with a sample of all bipolar patients of all ages except pregnant and lactating patients. The sampling was done by observing the patients’ medical records with bipolar disorder from January 2021 to August 2021 in Inpatient Installation at Surakarta District Psychiatric Hospital. The Results of the prescribing evaluation in patients bipolar disorder 3 combinations of drugs with the highest number given in the prescription, namely a combination of trihexypenishil+chlorpromazine+haloperidol+risperidone with a total of 57 prescription sheets, a combination of trihexypenidhil + risperiode + chlorpromazine with a total of 55 prescription sheets, and a combination of trihexypenidhil + quetiapine + risperidone+ divalproex with a total of 38 prescriptions for the percentage of drug prescribed by generic names 82.60%, and percentage of Fornas (National Formulary of Indonesia Republic) drug which is 79.88%. The results of the treatment evaluation were 96.15% or 75 patients were declared to be improving and 3.85% or 3 patients did not experience improvement so that they continued with social rehabilitation.
