Abstract

Propionubacterium acnes is one of the factors in the pathogenesis of acne. Treatment using antibiotics can have an irritating effect on the skin, long-term use provides resisting and hypersensitivity effects. Ethanol extract has anti-acne activity in Propionibacterium acnes. Manufacture of emulgel preparations to help the use of antibacterial preparations by varying carbpol 940 as a gelling agent. The purpose of this study was to look at the properties of physical quality, stability and bland zone of emulgel preparations of ethanol extracts as anti- breakouts against Propionibacterium acnes. This study used a 10% concentration of 10% ethanol extract made in 4 formulas with a carbpol variation of 940 concentrations of 0.75%; 1,0% ; 1,5% ; 2,0%. Preparations of emulgel extract ethanol flowers are carried out physical quality testing, stability and bland zones. Test anti-breakout activity using the disc diffusion method to determine whichever bland zone will show the transparent area. The data obtained is processed using SPSS. The results showed that emulgel ethanol extract of late flowers with a variation of carbpol 940 as gelling agent meets the criteria of good physical quality and stability. Variations in the concentration of carbpol 940 can affect anti-acne activity, namely by showing the presence of a bland zone in the form of a transparent area. The lower the concentration of carbpol 940 the wider the bland zone obtained. The bland zone value of the late flower ethanol extract obtained at F1 is 25mm; F2 24.83mm; F3 23.91mm ; and F4 22.75mm. Emulgel preparations of telang flower ethanol extract F1 carbopol 940 0.75% and F2 carbopol 940 1% had the best inhibition zone because they were not significantly different from the extract so that diffusibility occurred maximally.
