Abstract
Isomyristicin is one of the isomerization of myristicin. Isomyristicin has a conjugated double bond that is longer than myristicin so it is thought to have better sunscreen activity. This study aims to determine the value of the sun protection factor (SPF) of isomyristicin in the form of an emulgel dosage form with a concentration variant of 0.5% and 1.0% which has good physical stability and quality and is safe to use. The research was conducted using isomyristicin synthesized from myristicin. The formulation of the emulgel preparation was made with a series of concentrations of 0.5% and 1.0%. Calculation of the SPF value of isomyristicin emulgel preparations was carried out in vitro using UV-Vis spectrophotometry and calculated using the Mansur method. Assessment of the erythema score of isomyristisin emulgel preparations in vivo using male New Zealand white rabbits by calculating the area of erythema on the backs of test animals exposed to exoterra lamp for 24 hours. The results showed that the emulgel preparation had good physical quality. The test results of the SPF (Sun Protection Factor) value show that. The isomyristisin emulgel preparation has activity as a sunscreen with minimal protection and the isomyristisin emulgel preparation after exposure to UV light for 24 hours shows that the emulgel preparation has no protective activity where erythema is occurring on the rabbit's back.
