Abstract
Inflammation is a response to tissue injury and infection. Saliara leaf is one of Indonesia's local plants. Saliara leaves have many benefits such as relieving itching (anti-pruritic), antitoxic and swelling and can treat skin pain, boils, wounds, coughs, rheumatism, and bruises. Saliara leaves contain flavonoid compounds, saponins, and tannins that can inhibit the process of inflammation, made in the form of an ointment as an alternative treatment with milder side effects. The purpose of this study was to determine which saliara leaf extract could be made into ointment preparations with good physical quality and good anti-inflammatory effect of saliara leaf extract (Lantana camara L.) on the soles of rats induced with carrageenan and the effective concentration of saliara leaf extract ointment (Lantana). camara L.) against white rats (Rattus noovergicus). Saliara leaves were extracted by maceration method using 70% ethanol solvent which was evaporated until a thick extract was obtained. The saliara leaf extract obtained was made in the form of an ointment with three different concentrations of 15%, 30%, and 60% and used as a negative control Vaseline album base ointment. Physical properties tests include organoleptic, homogeneity, spreadability, adhesion, pH, viscosity and test tests. Determining the antiinflammatory effect was carried out using a pestimometer for the volume of the soles of white rats. The results of testing the anti-inflammatory effect of saliara leaf extract on the feet of white rats were analyzed statistically using One-Way ANOVA. The results showed that saliara leaf extract can be formulated into ointment preparations with variations in concentration and has good physical quality and variety. Saliara leaf extract ointment has an anti-inflammatory effect on the feet of white rats. Saliara leaf extract ointment with a concentration of 60% has good antiinflammatory properties. The results of the analysis of anti-inflammatory power using One-Way ANOVA statistics have a significance of 0.015 < 0.05 indicating that there is a difference in each concentration of saliara (Lantana camara L.) leaf extract ointment against mice (Rattus noovergicus).
