Abstract

Bidara leaves (Ziziphus mauritiana L.) contains compound active as an antibacterial. Bidara leaf is an active ingredient added to alcohol-free hand sanitizer preparations. Antibacterial hand cleansing gel of bidara leaf extract which is effective as an antibacterial against and stability Escherichia coli. Extraction is done by infundation. Bidara leaf extract is made in hand sanitizer gel formula with concentrations of 2, 4, and 6%. The physical quality testing of hand sanitizer gel includes organoleptic, homogenety, pH, viscosity, adhesion, dispersion, activity and stability test. The inhibitory test method uses the well diffusion method with Escherichia coli. The results showed that the formulation of bidara leaf extract hand sanitizer gel gave inhibitory diameter 13,3 mm, 16,3 mm, 18,6 mm against Escherichia coli. Formula III with extracts of bidara leaf extract 6% was most effective in inhibiting Escherichia coli. The test results of the stability test of the hand sanitizer gel formulation of the bidara leaves extract meets the physical quality test criteria. Based on the result of the one-way ANOVA, there was no significant difference in the physical quality tests.
