Abstract

The condition of the pancreas is unable to produce insulin or the body cannot use insulin effectively called diabetes mellitus (DM), the disease can be caused by an unhealthy lifestyle and belongs to the category of public health interest because the prevalence of its cases continues to increase until it reaches the epidemic stage. The goal of the study was to know the antidiabetic activity on a combination of ethanol extract of moringa leaves and noni leaves, to know the effective dosage for the treatment of diabetes, and to know the regeneration of pancreatic islet cells after being given a combination of ethanol extract of moringa leaves and noni leaves. In this study, the test preparations were given for 14 days orally. Measurement of blood sugar levels using a glucometer. The parameters in the study were a decrease in blood sugar levels and the regeneration of pancreatic cells from rats by the Hematoxylin-Eosin staining method. Results from this study showed that a combination of ethanol extract of moringa leaves and noni leaves had antidiabetic effects on rats. The most optimal dose to lower the blood sugar levels of rats was 150 mg / kgWW where the dose was almost equivalent to the effectiveness of glibenklamid.
