Abstract

Fever is a state of body temperature rising above normal (Warduyah et al., 2015). Knowledge has an important role in selfmedication, because good information can lead to drug use. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and the factors that could influence the knowledge and use of fever self-medication in Gempollegundi Village. This study uses a cross sectional survey approach and is descriptive quantitative. Respondents aged > 18 years have done selfmedication for fever as many as 350 respondents. Consecutive sampling method was used for the sampling technique. Questionnaire is an instrument used for research. Data analysis used Chi-square test to test the relationship between two variables. The results of the study provide an overview of the knowledge level of self-medication of the community towards self-medication of fever, which is sufficient at 41.71%. People buy drugs at pharmacies by getting more information through advertisements, the reason for doing self-medication is because it is cheaper. Knowledge of age, education, occupation there is a significant relationship. The level of knowledge has no relationship with the pattern of using self-medication for fever medicine with a significant value of P-value < 0.05.
