Abstract
Hypertension is a global problem in health where cases continue to increase every year, namely 80%. Hypertension in geriatrics is generally given various types of therapy in one prescription, because it can increase the incidence of drug interactions in addition to reducing drug effectiveness. Drug interactions can be reviewed based on the level of drug interaction and the mechanism of interaction. The purpose of the study was to determine the treatment profile and the level of drug interaction for inpatient geriatric hypertension and to analyze the relationship between the drug profile and the severity of the interaction at RSUM Metro Lampung. This research is a non-experimental retrospective with a cross-sectional research design with purposive sampling. Inclusion criteria of patients receiving antihypertensive drugs, geriatric patients who entered the age of 60 years. The data was taken from the medical records of inpatient geriatric patients from January to December 2021 at RSUM Metro Lampung. The data was processed by chi square test, Medscape, Drugs.com and DrugBank online. The results of the study were the majority of hypertensive geriatric patients were in the elderly group with a vulnerable age of 60-69 years and 54,2% male. The work status of housewives is the majority affected by hypertension 37,5%. The profile of drug use in geriatric patients given combination drugs of more than 4 drugs, the most frequently prescribed antihypertensive was CCB 32,2%. The incidence of drug interactions was 93,5% with the severity of drug interactions minor 21,5%, moderate 75%, major 3,5%. There is a significant relationship between drug use profile and the severity of drug interactions. Keywords: Drug interactions, Geriatrics, Hypertension, Hospital
