Abstract

A diagnosis of typhoid fever is confirmed based on clinical diagnosis and laboratory examination. Salmonella Typhoid IgG/IgM rapid test is a qualitative immuno-chromatography test for detecting IgG and IgM antibodies in Salmonella typhi in serums. Salmonella Immunoassay test is a rapid and accurate semi-quantitative competitive agglutination test for detecting IgM antibody in Salmonella typhi. This study aims at investigating the differences of results of salmonella IgG/IgM rapid test and salmonella immunoassay test. This study belongs to analytical observational research with cross-sectional approach, carried out to 50 samples. The research was conducted in the Installation of Clinical Pathology Laboratory of Islamic Public Hospital (RSUI) of Kustati in Surakarta from March to April 2017. Chi-Square was used with significance value of (p) < 0.05 and confidence interval of 95%. Salmonella rapid test demonstrates positive (+) results on three samples and negative (-) results on 47 samples. Salmonella immunoassay test produces positive (+) results on 29 samples and negative (-) results of 21 samples. There is significant difference (p=0.001) of the results of salmonella IgG/IgM rapid test and salmonella immunoassay test. Further research is needed to be conducted to culture.
