Abstract

Burn is a loss or damage to tissue due to contact with heat sources such as hot water, fire, chemicals, electricity, and radiation. Burns are trauma that damage and affect body systems. Burns are trauma that damage and affect body systems. Shoe flowers have properties as antibacterial, antioxidant, antitumor, antihypertensive, and as a wound healer. The purpose of this study was to determine the physical quality and stability and to determine the concentration of the most effective hibiscus leaf extract gel preparation as a burn healer. Ethanol extract of hibiscus leaves was made by maceration method using 70% ethanol as solvent. The gel preparation was divided into 3 concentrations 5%, 10% and 15%, then physical quality testing was carried out including organoleptic, adhesion, pH, homogeneity dispersion and stability tests. There are 5 treatment groups. Testing the effectiveness of burn healing was carried out on the back of New Zealand rabbits. Parameters observed by measuring the diameter of the burn. Then the data obtained from the percentage of burn healing were analyzed using SPSS. The results of this study showed that all concentrations of the hibiscus leaf extract gel formula had activity as a burn healer. The formula with a concentration of 15% showed good physical quality test results and the percentage of effective wound healing was almost equivalent to the positive control which was 99.19% on the 21 day.
