Abstract
Ibuprofen is a propionic acid derivative NSAID (Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug) whose pharmacological effects are analgesic and antipyretic. The ibuprofen suspension is stored at room temperature, which is below 30°C, but there are still some people who still store the drug in the refrigerator. Errors in storage can result in physical and chemical changes in the preparation, both changes in form, drug content, and effects. This study aims to determine whether temperature affects the concentration and physical properties of ibuprofen in suspension preparations. The sampling technique used simple random sampling. Samples were stored at cold temperatures (5°C ± 3°C), room temperature (27°C ± 3°C), and hot temperatures (50°C ± 3°C). Assay analysis using uv-vis spectrophotometry instrument with a wavelength range of 200-400 nm and physical properties using a Brookfield viscometer and pycnometer. The data obtained were analyzed using linear regression analysis and then tested for significance using SPSS. The results showed that there were differences between samples stored at cold, room, and hot temperatures that were tested before and after. At cold temperatures there is a decrease in levels by 20.42% to 85.49%, at room temperature there is a decrease in levels by 0.19% to 3.44%, and at hot temperatures a decrease in levels of 13.35% to 59.16% occurs. and an increase in levels of 27.67%. Likewise for physical properties, the specific gravity test decreased, in the viscosity test there was a decrease in samples stored at room temperature and heat, while those stored at cold temperatures increased. Of the 12 sample bottles tested, it shows that the best sample and in accordance with the literature is the sample stored at room temperature.
