Abstract
Moringa flowers (Moringa oleifera L.) contain flavonoid compounds that can act as antioxidants to ward off free radicals. Nanosuspension is 100% drug substance with nanometer size using colloidal dispersion system and surfactant solution as stabilizer. The manufacture of nanosuspension is useful for increasing the IC50 value of small Moringa flowers. The purpose of this study was to determine the antioxidant activity of the extract compared to the extract nanosuspension and the best stability in the formulation of the nanosuspension preparation. Moringa flower extract was extracted using maceration method with 70% ethanol as solvent. The nanosuspension preparations were made into 7 formulas by precipitation method using stabilizer SLS 1%, Polysorbate 80 1%, PVA 1%, Fluronic F68 1%, SLS-Polysorbate 80 0.5% : 0.5%, SLS-PVA 0.5% : 0.5%, and SLS-Fluronic F68 0.5% : 0.5%. The nanosuspension characterization included particle size, zeta potential, polydispersity, stability test and antioxidant test of Moringa flower extract. The results of this study indicate that Moringa flower extract can be made into nanosuspension by the precipitation method, the use of a stabilizer affects the particle size of each formula where the use of a combination stabilizer has a smaller particle size than a single stabilizer and has stronger antioxidant activity than the antioxidant activity of pure extracts. Moringa flower is 235.47ppm and IC50 nanosuspension formula 1 is 106.35ppm and formula 7 is 100.66ppm. Keywords: Nanosuspension, Moringa Flower (Moringa oleifera Lam), Antioxidant.
