Abstract

Urinary tract infection (UTI) is a state of the presence of microorganisms in the urine that cause infection of the urinary tract. UTIs occupy the second most positions in developing countries. Indonesia has 90-100 cases per 100 thousand population in each year and in East Java for UTI patients reached 3-4 cases per 100 thousand per year. The selection of drugs and doses on antibiotics is done in order to achieve the desired treatment therapy. This study aims to find out the type of antibiotic use and drug selection and antibiotic dose in UTI Hospital patients at Dr. Moewardi Surakarta Hospital in 2021. This study used cross-sectional, data collection was carried out retrospectively. The samples used were all from the medical record data of inpatient urinary tract infection patients at Dr. Moewardi Surakarta Hospital in 2021, the criteria for this study used inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria. Sampling data was carried out using the purposive sampling method and then the data were analyzed accordingly with guidelines with the right parameters of medicine, right dosage, and right frequency. The results showed that the highest type of antibiotic used was the antibiotic ciprofloxacin as much as 34.44%. The accuracy of drug selection based on both guidelines (71.11%), the right dose according to IAUI (66,67%) and the urological infection guidelines 2015 (67.78%) and the right frequency based on both guidelines 46.67%).
