Abstract

Hypertension is a condition where the pressure in the blood exceeds the normal or maximum threshold, namely blood pressure of 120 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure of 80 mmHg. The purpose of this study was to determine and understand the indicators of drug use that meet the standards, as well as to determine the most widely used drug class. This study used a retrospective method. The technique that will be used in the sampling process used is, by using the Purposive Sampling method. The reasons for using drugs have criteria in sampling such as outpatients, age, uncomplicated hypertensive patients, hypertensive patients with co-morbidities, therapy with antihypertensive drugs. Analysis of the results was carried out by considering the use of drugs by comparing the literature used. The results showed that the reasons for using antihypertensive drugs based on JNC guidelines were the right patient (100%), correct diagnosis (100%), right indication (100%), right drug (90%), right dose (98.57%) and proper administration (100%). The most widely used drugs were CCB drugs (18.57%). Keywords: Hypertension, antihypertensive, Rationality
